Hello, This is AlienKat,
It's Spooktober, my favorite time of year! I actually am not ready to release a new build, but oh well. It's Halloween and this is a horror game. It feels wrong not to upload something today. Although I might have spent more time playing horror games rather than work on mine, aha.
I didn't really do much map or story changes because I want the mechanics down before anything else. I'm around 80% done with that, the 20% needs the story somewhat fleshed out. Combat system should be more intuitive now. Before you had to open the inventory to place down a trap. It felt like an abrupt stop, taking you out of the situation and killing tension. It also added the annoyance of constantly opening the inventory. Now you equip it and place it down through a button. This gives a better flow for combat and also allows some strategical options. I've also redrawn the map which should make it much easier to see and orientate yourself. The music for encounters has changed also. Instead of heavy drums, its now much more toned down and more tense. This isn't a jumpscare heavy game, I'm going for dread not shock. I've removed the original pixelation filter and switched over a psx one. I'm going for a 6th gen style game and the psx filter brings me closer to that. There's also a new CRT fitler, which you can turn off since it does reduce visual quality.
Now the main focus is gonna be creating the actual story. This is most likely the longest part of the process, especially since I forget to write down ideas. So far though, I've got a good outline done which should help as a base to start off with. This means that I'm gonna disappear again for a couple months. Also, I forgot my discord password, so email is the only way to get to me.
